Default 2nd gen Teg died while driving, refused to ever start again. Is it the coil?

I have a '93 GSR (B17A) that has almost 190K miles on it. A few weeks ago, it just up and quit on me on the highway. One second it was running fine, the next it was dead.

I towed it home and swapped the ignitor with a known good one. No dice. Yesterday, I swapped the entire distributor from a B18C1 engine and it fired right up.

Now, I figure the problem has to be just the coil, or the distributor itself. Without swapping coils from the "dead" distributor to the good one, can you Honda Geniuses tell me what the odds are that its the coil that died?

I can get a replacement coil for just over 20 bucks on Ebay . . . obviously, a whole 'nother dizzy is way more.

um . . . thank you. But I've already determined the car starts and runs 100% fine with a DIFFERENT DISTRIBUTOR.

The question was is most likely the coil or the distributor itself that was the problem?

well this forum is retarded that i cant start my own tread until like 15 days... (doesnt make sence) so im just going to tread highjack this one.

90 integra NO SPARK, changed ICM, coil, cap and rotor???????

its my moms car, it has always ran great, never had a problem. The other day she went to the store and when she got back out to her car it would not start. I came down and found that it wasnt getting any spark to the plugs. I did some research and found that it is common on these cars to have the coil, ICM (igniter) and or the main relay to go bad.

I first bought the main relay--- No luck
then i tested the coil and ICM and it looked like both failed.
I bought a new coil and ICM--- No luck, and i still have no spark to the plugs.

ANY IDEAS what it could be? (the car is all stock)

the battery is good.
its getting fuel.
i checked all the fuses.
i checked every ground that i could find.

Thanks

Read the rules. No thread jacking.
The rules states: 15 days, with 5 posts. You have been a member since march 2010, with one post. I wonder who is retarded? And its spelled SENSE.

OP, just get a new distributor and call it a day. It could have been either coil or ignitor or both.
