Constant tranny noise, thought I knew what it was but now Im not sure (SEARCHED)
Ok guys, I did my seearches and thought I came to the conclusion that it was the input shaft bearing. Its an EG hatch with a b18c1 with gsr trans, the ACT clutch was installed approx 500-1000 miles before I purchased it. I have driven the car maybe 500 or so miles since I bought it a few weeks ago. This noise started yesterday as I pulled into work.
When I drove it home from work yesterday the noise was intermittent, and would seem to quiet up when I engage (press in) the clutch pedal. However, today I was planning to take the car to the garage so I can work on it, and the noise is now consistent. It doesnt go away whether the clutch is engaged or disengaged, or if the car is moving or at idle. It always makes the noise. And to describe the sound, it doesnt sound like rattling or grinding that I read alot about. Rather it sounds similar as if you were to roll your car down an incline and press the brakes in while the car is turned off (brake pads rubbing the rotors without power assist). It is a constant scraping type of sound. Also, the car shifts perfectly still without any problems, even with this nasty scraping noise.
I plan to pull the trans off in the next few days, but before I do this I want some ideas so I can focus on certain things to look for. Possibly flywheel bolts backing out?? (Im not sure what that sounds like).. Maybe a stone found its way up in there.. Like I said I dont know what to think anymore. I really appreciate all the help with my problem. Take care.

input shaft bearing blew up. that happened to me. the casing fell apart, and chunks of the plastic housing were floatin in my tranny. be prepaired for long nights. get the factory serice manual. otherwise your screwed
Flywheel bolts backing out sound like THUMP,THUMP, THUMP and its makes you wonder when the motor will blow. Ask me how I know.
