Not sure where this should go so I'll just leave it here for now. Tonight my carbon fiber hood got a nasty gash on one of the edges. It broke out about a nickle size chunk of the gel coat off of the top side. The bottom side is alright though. Is there any repair for this? The fiberglass and the weave is okay it is just that gel coating. It bugs the HELL OUT OF ME!! I'm so saddened by the ruining of my cars appearance.

 

anyone? I'd like to know as well.

 

I've seen them fixed before. My friends CF hood flew open on his del sol on the highway and spider cracked it. He was able to find a place that could fix it.... although i am unaware of the cost..

 

gel coat the spot, wet sand the hood, and clearcoat it!

 

Exactly. Also, unless you have a super cheap CF hood, there is no "fiberglass" in it. It is carbon fiber . Just pick up some carbon fiber resin, fil that chunk back in with resin, let it cure properly, sand it down to blend it with the old stuff, then clear coat it.

When you guys say clear coat it is that with the spray can clear coat. Do you guys take itto your local paint and body shop or some.
