Default compression question

ok so i got a 1st gen. jdm b16 and i heard that the compression is suppossed to range anywhere from 150-240 psi.. now thats a a big range...why would two motors with all the same internals have these different compression numbers?? lets say one is rated at 150 psi and the other at 240psi...im assuming that the one with a higher compression should be more potent..is this correct or does it not make a difference..ive been wondering about this a lot lately

150 would be pretty low, but it might still run fine. As the motor wears, thecompression drops, so while it may have 200+ when new, it may not have that after a bunch of miles.
