You can get a vafc or some other vtec controller, but often times this is not beneficial -- especially if you have a stock car

VAFC would do it but like the above person said, it does nothing on a stock car. why did you want to do this?

The Vafc will allow you to move the Vtec point but it won't change the timing and fuel appropriately so it won't do much.
With a budget of $1200 I would do the gear swap in the rearend. Major effects for the bucks.

1200 won't do much...either a FD change or AEM EMS which should net 15whp or more

$1200 to go faster straight or turn faster? My brother's ATS 1.5 way LSD probably made the most dramatic improvement I've seen from what all he's spent. It's ridiculous the difference it makes coming out of a turn. I think it was around $1200 too.

Cruising in VTEC on the highway sounds great!

FD will not gain any hp. I just uses what you have better. It increases your mechanical leverage. Overall hp will not change.

Personally...i'd dump the $1,200 into the suspension, but thats just me. You really want net much power gain with that kind of money, and given your question, im guessing you wont be able to install this stuff yourself anyways, so really, $1,200 aint gonna yield you much in any catagory...given its probobly going to have to include labor for installation as well.

A good idea might be saving it, putting some more cash on top of it and then in a few months, look at what you really want out of your car...

You could always go the nitrous route...but again, given your question, and my assumption of your automotive knowledge, this suggestion is probobly not the best one for your personal situation.

$1200 = AEM v2 + set of Advans + tank 100 Octane + track time. Faster than you will ever need to go...

I would doubt with a stock setup that you could pull any more horsepower form a lower vtec engagement point. You would need cams to compliment the setup.

There is a reason Honda set the VTEC engagement point where they did.

this one surprised me because it matched the gear ratios of the AP1 well, but screws up the AP2's 0-60 dash because it drops the RPMS to ~5800 on the 1-2 shift, out of VTEC, and 2nd gear only hits 57mph.

Interesting. I've never heard anyone mention that before. Maybe that's why the AP2 has shorter gears, but isn't any faster in acceleration than the AP1?
