Default Security/solenoid immobilizer

Hey guys
The theft rate in my area has been up and i'm worried about my stock 2000 civic ex. These cars got their immobilizers in 2001 so mine is not equipped with one. As i understand many alarms can be bypassed quite quickly. I've come across a product by Powerlock. It's a solenoid based immobilizer that they claim makes it impossible to hot wire a car. Has any of you guys used this system or maybe has has any comments about it? My friend said that solenoid could be easily bypassed if one was to have a magnet. I'm looking for a product that'll make it very hard for a thief to steal my car.

Never really got into it. I would get the work done at an authorized shop if I was to put in a system

sorry, i'll post what i'm thinking. I've installed kill switches in my car. I'm not completely done with everything, but eventually i will have kill switches on the ignition, ecu, and fuel pump. If you have the know-how you can dig deep into your car (under the carpets, way up in the dash) and install relays in places where it would take a long time to get to with a full toolbox. As long as you hide all of your wires (using wires from junkyard cars that have stock coloring) it will be impossilbe for theifs to track down where the relays are, and which wires to cross/jump to disable them.

the downside to that is there is someone other than you who knows how to bypass it.

I'm more worried about my car being parked when i'm out downtown and have my car parked in the lot.... I guess the risk isnt that high if you get it installed at a reputable shop. I dont have any valuables in my car (Besides detachable faceplat deck which i take with me) but the insurance company wont pay me what i paid for the car. So i guess my goal is to put in some sort of a system thats fairly tamper-proof. I realize that if they want the car they can tow it but i doubt they'll go through all that to steal a stock civic.

then kill switches.... , there's plenty of DIY articles on here, do a quick search, It should bring up a few hits. If you think it's a little beyond your electrical skills either have one installed at a reputable shop, ask a friend, or buy my kit

Seriously though, anyone can install a kill switch, it's not that hard.

Wouldn't a solenoid immobilizer be more effective than a kill switch though? I'm not sure how much of it is marketing and now much is true but arent those "switches" easily bypassed?
