how many of you are running all motor d series?
ive been kicking around the idea of building an all motor mini me that would go kinda like this:
zc sohc block
dohc zc pistons
ls rods
gasket match
port match manifold/throttle body
b18 throttle body
y8 manifold
cam (probably exospeed)
arp headstuds
stock lightened flywheel (i know i shouldnt do it but oh well)
performance valve springs/retainer (should be good to 8k)
h22 injectors
chipped ecu
tuned
and of cours I/H/E
that should pretty much cover it. may possibly go with performance valves and a 3 angle.

I had a built Dseries about a year and a half ago (Hbeams, forged pistons overbore, fully built head, stage 3 cam etc.). I built the motor after running nitrous on the stock internals for about a year and wanting the power all the time. I enjoyed the motor quite a bit, I just never really got that big torque out of it which is what I began to want more. After getting rid of the motor I went with a mildly built H22 hatch...loved the torque, missed my dseries handling! Sold that car and returned to my CRX which has been engineless. Decided to equip it with the wave of Honda's future since the mounts were just released.
I can say though, despite what I build or have, my love for the D will never go away. They will always be the best little budget builders with plenty of parts/trannies. For chump change you can build a 250hp boosted Dseries, doesn't get much better than that when your buildin a beater.

yeah i was gonna go turbo but i decided not to. i want to do an all motor set up more for the twists and turns. with a turbo theyre good for the straights but it takes time to build that boost (unless youve got a tiny turbo which of course will give you no top end.) how much power were you makin with your d series? and i figured for the price of most the part i listed itd be an easy set up. ive got the head, headstuds, manifold, i can get the ls rods and tb for free or cheap, ive got the ecu and i can get the flywheel done by my step dad on a brake lathe, the porting i can do with my grandpa (he works for an engine shop, but they have no flow bench hence why id only gasket match and polish). and the pistons i could get for about $150 and im sure i can find someone in my area with a wideband. and the cam should only be about $200 and the springs and retainers for $250 or i could get the valves included for around $450. the three angle again goes to my grandpa workin in a machine shop. i just thought itd be a fun simple build.

do a search on my SN, Steve91 and a few others, we all have a D series in various stages of build.

i'm planning on a simple build for my Z6. i already have p29 pistons, just going to get h beam rods, get everything balanced, y8 head gasket, arp studs, and mild head work (springs, retainers, cam, p&p)
