'92 Prelude Si speedometer not working
I noticed my '92 Si (H23a, automatic trans) on my way home from work started flashing the D4 gear indicator light on the dash and my speedometer stopped working. I looked in the manual and it says that this light flashes when there is a trans. malfunction but the only thing wrong is the speedo... Any ideas??? Is there an actual speedometer cable for this car or is it all electronic? I'm dreading taking apart the dash. Could it be the speed sensor on the tranny?? Please help......

try what these guys said first... but if you do have to take apart your dash it's really not too bad...
start by taking out the two corner tweeter covers...
then undo the black strip of plastic that runs on the underside of your upmost dash. - it's phillips - and a stubby screwdriver really helps.
next remove the long strip of rubber/plastic that runs along the bottom of the dash screen - it sorta peels off/out.
next there is a dividing piece that seperates the lil speedo/taco box from the warnining cluster/clock side - remove that, (one phillips)
the rest should be pretty obvious - you have to remove the warning light visor - there are two screws one to the right, and one up top - and a bunch of clips that it sorta snaps into. when you pull it away be sure to unplug the clock.
once you have all that out - the screws to remove the speedo/taco should be pretty darn obvious - i don't think you'll have much to check there however except that everything is plugged in - and giving it's location it's highly unlikely anything became unplugged. - there is the off chance the lil speedo syncro died... but i think it would be pretty slim...
all the best.
ohh and remember it is your dash, and highly visible - so be careful (;

Me too. Double check the wiring on the speed sensor. It's vertical so water and junk just sits on the connectors and corrodes them easily.
