i think think the redline in the cluster is like 6900 7200 somewhere around there.... yeah its got a moonroof( the one htat comes out that you cant see out of it just slides back with the power button like the preludes did...... i dont know if its metal prob is..... and it has the orignal paint with the si sticker on the back and the vin is a jhm starting
ok well if all that stuff is like that what model you think it is? si hf or dx? plz dont tell me its a ******* dx i i will go to jail then cause i will shoot that ******
the si models are the only ones to come with the sunroof/moonroof, dx's dont come with 5 speed manuals
either that or the dude could be tricky and bought a dx and just put in all that si stuff to make it look like an si to **** someone over, but thats not likely. so the only thing it looks like u got jacked on was the engine.
so ya, no weapons, allout fist fight

Before you go ballistic, make sure it has a 5 speed. Check to see if it has all five gears and what is the transmission code.
Before you freak completely out, check a few things. The following apply to US-market CRXs:
VIN - JHMED9 is the first 6 digits of the Si. The DX and HF would have JHMED8. After that, the next digit tells you the transmission - 3 is for a 5-speed manual, 4 is for an automatic.
That much will at least tell you what the car STARTED LIFE AS. As far as what motor is in it now, you need to read the engine ID number on the front of the block, down by the exhaust header, near the transmission. D16a6 is an Si engine; D15b2 is a DX engine; D15b6 is the HF engine. The stock Si engine made 108hp (105 in 1988); the DX made 92hp, and the HF made 62hp. All figures according to my Factory Service Manuals.
The transmission: How do you know if it's an Si tranny? Well, it's pretty simple, really. Get it up to 70mph in 5th gear. What's the tach reading? An Si will be doing right at 3500rpm, give or take 50rpm. A DX will be doing more like 3100rpm @ 70mph in 5th, and an HF transmission will give you 2100rpm at that speed.
It's possible that the previous owner put a D15 of some sort in the car because he blew up the D16a6... and it's POSSIBLE that he put in a BETTER D15 than the D16a6 was! There are D15s out there that make more power than the stock Si engine...
If you don't have an Si transmission, you can probably pick up a decent one for $150 or less.
Oh, and by the way, the DX *DID* come with a 5-speed manual; the only choices you had in a CRX "DX" (Honda called it the CRX Standard or Std) were a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. It was the only CRX offered with an autobox. The 4-speed was more for the Civic Standard (Std) model, which is a different animal than a Civic DX or a CRX Std.
But read those engine numbers and your VIN first. If you can, post the entire VIN here, and we can help you decipher it.

um.. any differences in the hf and dx besides the hp difference and im guessing dx is mpfi</TD></TR></TABLE>
actually the hf is rated at somehwere around 72 hp (economy engine) w/ MPFI. The DX is the 92 hp engine. CRX's only came in HF/DX/SI where the DX is the mid point of each one. It had gas mileage and a bit of performance because of the long geared transmission.
Civic had the STD which came with the 4 speed automatics.

The std is the civic standard (std = standard). Its the 4 speed manual, with the 69-70 hp D15B1 dpfi. With a pm9 ecu.
Hf is MPFI, with a d15b6, 8 valve, 5 speed manual transmission, LIGHTEST of the 4th gens. The DX is dpfi with a d15b2, also came in 5 speed manual transmission.
