Default prelude battery relocation

Just wondering where you guys with 4th gens ran your wires for your battery relocation. I already have the carpet up and looking for where to run it through the firewall. Where is everyone running them, is there a rubber grommet covering a hole already hopefully, id rather not drill one.

I already saw one member ran it through the fender but id rather try to keep it in the engine bay, id say its easier to run that way.

you could run it through the ac- grommet. its on the passenger side , a little higher up than the floor mat goes.

Yes, you could run it there, or, you could run it where i did, through the hole where the main harness goes in, its easy to get too only by taking out the fuse box. Good luck!

not sure ive seen it. is it open/available or do the ac lines run to it already.

there seems to be a plastic grommet thing just sitting on the firewall on the passenger side, its about even with the glove box, and nothing is plugged into it, is this an option.

There's a hole behind the fuse box. Poke a wire in there and you can grab it from behind the passenger side kick panel. Reach waaaaaaaay up and you'll be able to grab it. I've crammed a AWG 0 and 2x AWG 8 wires through there and it was easy. There's plenty of room.

I'm right with you, my battery cable is ran on the outside of the car underneath. Not to bright of an idea to run the cable on the inside of your car!

Like I said, just use the main harness hole. Its thin rubber thats easy to poke a small hole in.

I have my battery in the trunk with a Moroso battery relocation kit. The 2 guage battery wires are run through the AC grommet along with the 4 and 6 guage wires for my stereo setups. From there, I run them under the plastic seal that clamps down the carpet where the passenger door opens, then under the rear plastic panel in the back seat to the trunk where the back seat splits in half.

I had an Optima in the trunk for a while, but I switched to a lightweight battery and mounted it here\/

Personally I like it a lot better this way. No long wires and no need for a battery box or anything.

would you mind explaining why its not bright to run a power wire on the inside of the car? I'm really curious to see how you justify that statement above.

Yes, remove the grommet and you'll be good to go... That's probably the same passage I used....

a 4th gen has the ABS there. the cruise control is up by the PS pump.

not all 4th gens have ABS, so its possible there was no re-wiring involved.

Yep, fuse box is right below & to the right of where the glove box would normally be. I had to use 2 wires to run power to the fuse box and to the starter. Everything else was just unplug and re-plug (if that's a word...).

I did take my ABS out a while ago, so I had a good amount of room.

I made it from Home Depot brackets and it's definately a POS, but it's worked fine for about a year so far---

that looks good and clean with the small battery. But i have a free optima red top so i figured I would use that.

I am also curious as to why not to run the power line through the interior, if tied down and tucked away it would eliminate having to worry about corrosion, rocks, and other nasty things on the road.

And I would also like to see where your fuse box is if you can take pictures, and was it a pain in the *** to do. Looks super clean, I like.

under the car is a dumb idea...if you bottom out and the cable grounds to the chasis, that can be nasty...atleast in the car its safer and corosion free...

I agree, I was just hoping that shdriver99 would share why he's so confident that it is 'not too bright' to do it inside. IMO, he's not 'bright' enough to figure out how to run it inside the car. If he wants to take the easy way out with his car, that's fine, but he shouldn't preach misinformation to others.

i mean there can also be the problem of the positive cable grounding but i think that outside of the car would be more eligable to be more of a risk.
