really?

I thought it was just a simple, rip the old belts off and replace it with a new one. I didnt think it would involve me using a socket wrench.

I do believe the tensioners are only on the t-belt. Everything else is held in by the combination of tightening one bolt then turning another.
When you turn certain bolts the tension is freed.

They are very easy belts to replace. Once you look at it, it should be pretty self explanitory.

if you look at your AC pump you will see a wing nut on the upper right hand side, tht is your tension bolt. you loose off the two big bolts that hold the pump in place, and the back the tension bolt off, this will allow slack in the balt so you can slip it off and slip the new one on. Re tighten the tension bolt, tighten the other two bolts and it is done. This is the same basic procedure for all 3 belts.

for the AC you have to remove the motor mount. but that is 3 more bolts, only an extra 5-110 min for work total.

sounds a little complicated. I think imma just take it to the shop. They're asking for 60-90 bucks for this.

Seems fair.

What are the the actual cost of those 3 belts?

belts are like $15 for all 3. It is pretty easy to do, get your self a helms and go for it. It will open the door to knowing more about your car,and fixing it if something does go wrong later down the road

i have only worked on my dc2. I use a 1/2 drive and 3/4 drive with 12mm/14mm/6mm sockets. I use two extentions that about about 6in each on both the drives. that is how I get the belts off.

So when you tighen up the bolts, will the tensioners tighten by itself? or do u have to apply pressure

a/c pump is a 6mm bolt that you gotta tighten and it pushes the pulley up that the belt rides across

p/s is a wing nut on the top that you gotta tighen.

alternator I wedge a screw driver till the belt is snug, not tight.

don't over tighten your belts that is BAD. Stretch and break "oh my."

do yourself a favor, get yourself a helms and read it, if not get a poor mans haynes/chilton.
