This is NOT intended to be a fire-starter but I have a bad feeling that you're going to discover the harshness of trying to get back money that you have put into a track car project. It's going to be painful, particularly since you've created something that doesn't fit into any popular racing class.

you could get into a couple classes with work (SPU, EP, GTL) but definally not an arrive and drive type of setup

Nice car. And with track events gaining in popularity at a rapid pace the ole build it for a class rule while still a good rule is less of an issue with so many track day drivers. Will outnumber road racers in the near future if not already. I don't see race cars going out the door at any great rate or great price lately anyhow. That is the "harshness" of owning a race car too. Buyers market.

if it came down to it couldn't he swap out the engine for a stock one and sell it as an ITA/H1 car? I'm sure a couple of mods and it would be legal.

Then sell the engine to someone else. It's really nice and all, but when a nice, competitive ITA/H4 car isn't selling for $7000 I don't see this car pulling in more than about $5-6000 in it's current setup.
