Problem with Tein Flex anyone else?
Lately my driver side front coilover has been squeaking like crazy. I checked
over all the bolts and everything is torqued to tein or honda specs for that side.
Is this because of the upper pillow ball mount? Anyone else have this problem?
Any way to fix this? It's annoying as hell and worried that some thing else is wrong
with the coilover though the car seems to drive fine. Any feedback or suggestions
would be greatly appreciated!!!

i have this problem sometimes myself...it will be there then go away after alittle bit....
my guess was the pillowball mounts against the metal....because i checked and re-checked all my bolts too
anyone else???

Thank God it's not just me, I don't know how in the hell to fix the problem though.
I mean my car is not quiet and I can live with noise but I can't take this.

haha i know what you mean, sometimes it really gets to me because i dont know what causes it. The only thing i could ever come up with that might fix the prob is to take out te coilovers and put like something soft (like a thin rubber type material or something) to absorb the metal on metal contact. Not sure if this is a good idea or not but its all i could come up with....

Yeah I just wish I knew if it was the coilover itself or between the pillowball mount
and the shock tower ya know? Any other help?

no squeaks for me?
make sure to:
1. oil the pillow ball. just a little like a drop
2. make sure you preloaded your springs.
3. make sure you grease (just a tad) the bottom and top parts of the springs where the last half circle on the spring meets the next spring. i've learned this from prior installs. after awhile the coating on the springs comes off and thats where the rubbing occurs due to springs touching each other)
4. check your rotor shield by the bottom tie rod.. i had a squeek that i could not find and that little metal thing that goes into the nut was touching the rotor cover.(have the car on the ground and have someone move the car to make it squeek.
5. grease your sway bar endlinks if you didnt prior to installing them.
thats all i can think of.
i also disassembled and washed all my parts before i installed them. so not sure if you are using a used set?

my flex were brand new...i figured i didnt have to prep anything for the install so i just put them in and went
keep in mind i dont hear this all the time...it happens off and on prob once or twice a month....
does anyone else have this problem???

when does it squeek? I installed my set and on certain 'semi-agressive' bounds the left front / rear right tend to squeek as well...
a friend had the same problem on his s13...
I believe it's the plastic harmonica-style dustcover on top of the dampener, that squeeks because of hitting the shock... or something like that
nothing to worry about, mine stopped allready I think... don't hear it anymore and nothing broke, that I can tell anyway

Mine does it all the time, I could be doing 1mph to 130mph and it squeaks (though
it's alot harder to hear at 130, dump tube's own me). I mean mine squeaks like
a couple bumping uglies on a old box spring. Next weekend I'm gonna take it off
and see what I find.
