Default Big QUESTION, Please help

I have a 94 2door accord. I want to buy a set of 18 inch rims in the rear and 17 inches in the front. My question is, what is the widest I can go in the rear with 18 rims? Thanks

The controlling factor for the rear suspension is the verticle link between the hub assembly and the upper ball joint. With a 205/60r-15 mounted to a 15x6 alloy rim, I get 1/2 inch clearance at the rear of the tire.
This question may (depending on forum experience) be better directed to your local speed emporium or such places as "The Tire Rack' on the web

I just like it. I saw it another car and it looked straight. What do you think?

not on FWD car......

staggered is cool when you can have very small ofset in the rear, and a bit greater in the front

Another point you might want to research;
Does your local DMV allow for tires to protrude from under the wheel well? If not (and you insisted on installing them anyway), you'd have to have a body shop flair your fenderwells to get back into compliance. Then there's the question about the front suspension........

So you guys really wouldn't do it? See I tried doing a bunch of search on this. I also tried to see how 18's look and 17's. I want my car to be low as possible, I want it to be done right. I don't know what is the best set up when it comes to this. I've been looking around.

What are the ups and down doing this set up?

Also, If I throw 18's and seriously drop, will I have problem turning?

Thanks alot and you guys rock

Biggest for 'show', 17".

Biggest for 'go', 16".

IMHO.

I think some 17" RH C3's would be nice to cruise on, on my 92 Accord (dream wheels).

If I were going with power, any clean/lite 16" would be perfect to me.

Bigger can look better, but I would go too big if you wanna be 'low' and not have too many other sus/alg issues.

It's encouraging that you're asking these questions now, cuz you seem to understand that everything we do to our rides are compromises; and the earlier in the process we understand this the fewer costly mistakes we make. The most common mistake we fall into is the "more is better" syndrome. Avoid it, and you can avoid those costly re-do's.
Serious drop? Do you mean like "puncture my oil pan " kind of drop.??
The one thing you want to avoid is loosing so much suspension travel that the tires' sidewalls are forced to start absorbing impacts. With the larger rims, and subsiquent shorter sidewalls, you could find yourself replacing tires every time you go over a curb or pothole when the sidewall splits.
Again, moderation

yea you should really be careful about how much you drop your car. My dad works for the city here and he once had a guy call in complaining that he had tore his transmission out when he drove over a manhole that had been raised up before resurfacing. You don't want to have to worry about stuff like that.

I have 3 sizes, 15, 17, 18 inches

15 = daily driving, light weight, cheaper tires, stupid looking OEM 96 Alloys (not the nice 7 spokes ones). Will use for slicks.
17 = Konig GT-R, light weight, nice looking, better handling, and less road noise than 18"
18 = Racing Hart M6, Look really good, lux style, heavy, but VERY STRONG, expensive tires, road noice, less handling.

It's up to you, but I recommend 16" or 17".

Some 16" look nice, like them Rotas or if you can shell your money to Volks or other high ends, be my guest, sporty look. Go for 17" if you want the luxury look. Both will have the nice handling.

There are several questions i need answered b4 I make any suggestions. And please remember, these will be just suggestions which (unfortunately) reflect my taste in the process. If you can wrap your head around some of it; it will be a starting point for you.
a) What color is (or will be) the '94
b) How will the vehicle be driven: 1) Grocery getter and to work mule, 2) Occasional Stop light campaigner or 3) Carving corners on the back country roads
c) Graphics?
d) BodyKits?

Give it some thought. this is your ride and should reflect the statement you'd like to make

hmm, luxo psort look...though i personally prefer 16s, 17s on the accord give it a real nice look, fits real nicely in the wheel wells with a lowered stance and still has a nice amount of sidewall...but if u wunna go for staggered looked, heh heh, u shud get 16x7.5 fronts and 15x6 rears...i wud do that but then i cant roate my tires

slicks up front and skinnies in the back would look more appropriate on a fwd honda not the other way around.

IMO I would go with the 18" but I am biased because that is what I am running with plenty of side wall, the car sits even, and not turning or suspension problems. I am also dropped 2.5" with no ground clearance issues ( I can still clear man holes that sit up a little higher than usual).

edit:
Oh yeah and again IMO I wouldn't do the staggered wheel size because I personally don't like the look but also tire rotation would be an issue also

Speedfreak, do you have a pic of your accord that I can see? I tried looking at the accord pic thread but 95% of all the pic didn't say what size they were running

I can post one late Monday or early Tuesday, it's on jack stands right now I just finished up my H22 swap and need to torque my suspension. I would have every thing done this weekend but I have to go out of town.

Sorry for the long post but yeah I will post a pic a the beginning of next week.
