Default ATTN: Anyone who has ever had their radiator support replaced...

OK, Ive taken my car around to about 3 different body shops in the area and all of them say about 1100 to replace my radiator support. Im thinking that sounds extremely high considering a new rad support only costs 140 shipped to my door. Should I go ahead and have a shop do it. I dont have a welder or the skills necessary to do it myself. Ive been avoiding it for 2 years. The previous owner had wrecked it and the rad fan is touching the slave cylinder ... I cant fit the turbo in my engine bay unless this is fixed. What did it cost you to have it fixed?

i was debating having mine replaced as well but it wasnt near as bad as yours so i had it pulled and lined back up... it only cost me $200 which i was suprised... but $1100 is about what i was getting when asking about replacing the whole support and they said they would knock off about $150 if i brought the part myself so yeah youre getting about the right estimate imo... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by brockscivic &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Should I go ahead and have a shop do it.</TD></TR></TABLE>... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by brockscivic &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I dont have a welder or the skills necessary to do it myself.</TD></TR></TABLE>... think you just answered your own question

depending on the damage to ur whip $1100 could be right
they might have to do a little pulling on ur frame & that aint cheap

If they chargin aroung $1100 im pretty sure its not just a
1-2-3 job

& if every shop tellin u around the same price its probably right
u paying for labor & equiptment
u cant think cuz the Rad sup is ony $140 that labor should be cheap
sometimes Labor charge is waaaaay more than cost of parts

think about it, a new timing belt cost about $30 depending on ur car
but labor charge to install it is about $200-$300
