Default EP3 owners, I have a purchasing question

What's up EP3 owners?

I've had my 1997 Acura Integra RS for about 6 months now, and I want to upgrade to something newer. I was looking for cars that are newer, but won't break my wallet. I've lately been looking at the 2002 Civic Si. I know the K20A3 doesn't pack the biggest punch of the K-series but I'm not too concerned with that as it's not going to be a vehicle i'm going to perform heavy modding/tuning on. I want something a little quicker, and has great reliability. Unfortunatly, I think the RSX is out of my price range , so the Civic Si would be next. Plus, my goal is to somehow trade this car in later to get the new 2006 Si in '06 or '07 or even the RSX-S if it's still around.

My question is, could I find a 2002 Civic Si for around $12-14k? I'm planning to trade in the Acura with some money down, and finance the rest. I think I can get around $5000 for the Integra (90K miles, new GBP paintjob, nice interior, etc...)

Today I'm gonna go look at my dealership (red tag sale on all used cars woohoo!) and see if any Civic Si's are there.

Thanks guys...

if u plan trading it in anyways, i think you should just wait for the 06 si. you're gonna end up spending more money if you get a car now, and then trade it in. i think.

You are estimating the correct price range for an '02. http://www.edmunds.com has all kinds of info about buying and selling used cars and what they are worth in a given market. I have found this site very helpful, especially if I am honest about my trade.

All that said your timing would seem a little off if you want to the new Si in the coming 12 months. Remember whoever sells you the ep3 will make a profit and you will have to pay tax and license fees, these are things you will effectively pay twice, because the dealer will make money on the new Si and again there will be tax and fees. Not to mention the new Si sounds like it will be a little on the pricey side. Just get an ep3 and enjoy it, wonderful car for the money.
