Default Car randomly bogs over 5k rpms.

95 ls, has around 140k mileage. The last time i had problems similar to this was from a bad cap.

The car pretty much feels like it's hitting the redline and getting cut out over 5k rpms, It's also pretty random of when it does it. Most of the time it won't even do it in 1st or 2nd gear, I checked the cap and it looked good, got new plugs and going to put some new wires in now.

I'll try to see if I can pull any codes, no cel or anything is on right now. Not too sure what the problem is, if anyone has any ideas?

Not really, it's only above 5k and other then that it's fine.
I just put a newer distributor in it not too long ago also.

I've put new plugs and wires in so far and nothing new, still trying to figure out what the problem is.

check your two leads to the distributor and see if they are loose. I had a similar problem and costed me 1 zip tie to zip tie it tight.

The plugs I put in were brand new and Should of been gapped right, but it didn't change from the other plugs either.

I'll check those two wires, they looked tight last time so I dunno.

i have that same problem on my black ls right now also .. i ve recently changed my starter and igniter but it could be defected .. other inputs from other people are the distriubtor also .. so it ll be kinda expensive to change all 3 so i dunno how i should pinpoint the exact spot .. i changed the cap rotor wires and plugs and it got a little better .. the rpm didnt jump till like 5 k .. earlier it was jumping from 3 k and up

Ecu is stock with pretty much everything else except i/e.
Yeah, I would of checked to see if I get any codes but laziness got the best of me.
I'm going to check it tomorrow though, see if i get anything out of it.

Does your car start right up or does it take a while to crank over? I'm guessing it is your Fuel Pump or possibly clogged Filter.

I have the same problem now, It started the same just like you then it got worse i got a code 9 so I changed the dizzy twice the changed the throttle body, then the comp, the **** gets up 2 between 5000k and 5500k then it drops to 3500 then it feels like it's hitting redline at 3500 (with my foot on the gas). I'm still trying to figure it out

Yeah I Did notice that, it takes a second or two then normal to start sometimes.
Fuel filter is pretty cheap so maybe I could pick up another one.

so a diagnostic from a shop would help figure out the problem most likely ?

ha "shop" thats a good one, yeah it would be nice if there was one around here.

Also now it's starting to do it in just about any rpm range, so I should probably get it looked at soon or something.
I would of checked to see if I got any codes but I snapped an axle the other night and had to do that, so maybe tomorrow.

Checked to see if I would get any codes, and nothing.
I picked up some synthetic fuel injector cleaner with other things it was suppose to do.

Put that in when I went to get some gas and that night it felt worse then usual, dunno if it just happen to be worse during that time or the cleaner did it.

So i'm still stumped to what it is.

I get that problem randomly while im on the freeway..
It will start to bog down and feel like its getting flooded out..

I changed the fuel pump, filter, dizzy and the plugs...
still continues to come up every once in a while, guessing it's my itr ecu making it run a little to rich .

swap ecu's with a friend and test it out.

I bet you it is your Fuel Pump. The check valve probably isn't holding pressure which is causing it to bog down. Any chance you have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up on your car? If you do check your fuel pressure in the morning after leaving it off all night. If you notice a drop then you either have a stuck open injector or a bad fuel pump.

my car is bogging right now and took it to acura to get my cap and rotor and fuel filter changed, acura found a problem while doing a check and told me that my starter coil ends are burnt so that could be the problem, well i didn't have the money to get the coil fixed, and only changed the cap and rotor and fuel filter, and my car still boggs so im going to get my coils replaced next week so ill let you guys know.

have acura check your coils to see if they are ok.

I never actually pay attention to what it is normally though haha.
I'll have to check it now, when it's on and again tomorrow i guess.

What would the pressure be at if it was a bad pump or injector?

Another thing also, when it starts to bog, if I let my foot off the gas a small amount it seems to not bog as much. Does it more if I have my foot to the floor though.

I'm going to pick up a new fuel filter today and I guess turn my attention towards fuel issues for now.

After sitting for a while, my fuel pressure gauge goes back down to zero. So is that a good thing or bad?

Would it have much to do with the fuel filter, because if it doesn't I'd rather take it back and get my money instead of putting something else on that's already pretty new for nothing

It is your pump or a leaky injector for sure. I can't say which one it is for sure. Each one would cause the same sympthoms. Dont bother with the filter i can gurantee you it has nothing to do with that.

I would put my money on the pump. Seems like it is dieing up top when you are pushing it to work harder. A leaky injector would cause bad gas mileage depending on how bad the leak is. Go get yourself another pump before it completely goes out.

Zero reading on a fuel pressure gauge is telling you that your fuel system is not holding pressure. There is only three places it can go, external leak, leaking injector or faulty check valve in the fuel pump. If you dont smell gas it is most likely not a external leak.

If you want to know the problem for sure start the car up check fuel pressure while its running, turn the car off and check the fuel pressure a few minutes later. If it drops to zero that quick i highly doubt it would be a stuck open injector because if a injector was leaking that bad you would get like 10mpg.
