Just got a Teg, WHat intake is good?
Just bought a 98 Silver integra LS with black interior and 83,000 Miles, ITs pretty clean First off I want an intake Im wondering should I just get an ebay intake or should I get an AEM? Ive heard good things about INJENS also
SHould I spend the Money on a CAI? or short ram? I live in portland so Im kinda afraid of hydrolocking the motor,
ANy Suggestions would be appriciated
Oh BTW thanks for all the input on the cars, IM IN LOVE WITH MY TEG
Also where to buy?

if you insist on getting one, look into the comptech icebox. it supposedly performs better than the cold-air/short ram without the fear of hydrolock. personally, i've heard much praise about it and nothing negative.
get a short ram. the other day i was driving to work, when it started raining/hailing so bad that most people pulled over. even though i have a properly installed bypass valve on my aem cold air, i still mustve sucked in a little bit of water, because all of a sudden my rpms dropped way down then went back up, kind of like when youre adjusting your clutch, and you put it in first gear and let the clutch out most of the way, then pushed it back in real quick. it also doesnt help that the shitty *** plactic clips that hold on your splash guard in your wheelwell didnt do their job and shortly after installing the intake if fell off
so my intake is in view of cops, thieves and any other ******* that would wanna mess with it.

The AEM Cold Air Intake is great!! Gains were much better than most other intakes. But even with the bypass you risk sucking in water.
The design of the Comptech Ice Box is much better. The filter is in the stock location and not in the wheel well like in the AEM CAI. So the chances of sucking water are much less. Plus the tubes and the air box on the Comptech has drain holes as well.
I've had both and both are really good. But my wife hydrolocked my car with the AEM. Prior to that I ran the AEM with no bypass for about 4 years. I just drove according to the weather. If it was really raining hard I just drove cautiously, not WOT!! And if there were puddles or standing water I tried to avoid them or tried to coast through it.
But my wife was driving normally when a TX flash flood engulfed the front end while she was driving and it sucked up water. Then she tried to start the car again and "BOOM"! But she didn't know better.
When I got the engine replaced I got the bypass for the AEM but I never felt totally confident in the bypass so I bought the Ice Box instead.
So now I have the Comptech Ice Box and I don't feel anymore worries. Although I still use common sense when driving in bad weather/ You should no matter what intake you have, stock of aftermarket.
On the otherhand, if your budget is limited and you just want to make more "noise", get a cheap ebay short ram intake.
Look in the sponsor section for where to buy the intakes as well.
And welcome to the board!
Good luck!
Off topic: For a cheap and easy upgrade to handling buy a used GSR front strut bar and install it in your LS. I gave my friend my old GSR bar and he liked it. Easy to install as well.

just as the above stated, get a no name brand. Metal pipe is metal pipe when it comes to cold air intakes. I have a cheap APC, and if you are like me, you will be upgrading to a 500hp engine in no time soon.
i got the aem short ram for looks alone. only thing bad about it is that the bracket rubs slightly onto the antilock brakelines. other that that, it's beautiful...

sorry didn't resize it

well u CANT just say "an intake is an intake, theyre all the same, buy the cheap one blah blah blah" bc thats not true... what is true is Most intake FILTERS are basically the same (except the either really cheap or really expensive onces). however, the AEM short ram intake PIPING is shaped pefectly for your own car. it does make a difference....... u cant just rig up ur own homemade intake with a cheap filter and attach it to ur stock intake tube or flexible tubing and expect it to function like an AEM intake...
i see what ur point is, but dont try to argue with me

how did the the comptech icebox felt compared to the aem cold air intake ? .. any notice of one being better than the other at certain rpms ? .. is the comptech icebox quiet like the stock or sound like any other intake ?

an intake is an intake......throw a k&n filter on ebay piping

an intake really is an intake, regardless.
2 best options are,
A. diy icebox. costs about 10 bucks, plus a good k&n filter, OR
B. ebay intake w/ k&n filter
both are cheap and effective

its all about the filter.
its all about the filter.
I am very suprised not many teg drivers use a AEM V2. Price is prolly the main reason, however, i have one of these.
pros - well designed, does not need a bypass valve, soundgreat specially @vtec
cons - a little bigger than a regular cai, not available in all fancy colors(who cares), expensive, have to pay slightly more for filter replacements, cuz the filter is huge( need to see it to believe it)
hope this helps
