Default Just got my first DA

Alright, I just bought my first DA!!! Its a 92, and in great condition. Its a project car in the making, these are the only two pics I have of the car, and there the ones from the guy who was selling the car!! I got it for $800 locally in Boston. It was a bargain, well maintained, all records kept. It has 197k, but for that price and the condition its in, everyone has been telling me I got a ill *** deal. It has a little pep for a LS

Heres my question, Im debating wether I should get the H&R sport lowering srings, or race, cuz thats all Im putting in to lower the car for now, cuz I want it dropped for the Honda-tech meet June 5 in CT. Anybody know or has tried those two setups? My friend had the sports, and his car ran nice, but didnt look low enough, but he told me the race springs will probably drop my car to much. But he isnt sure, hence me wanting help!!!

Also, any other imput would be great. Im gonna be on a tight budget for a few, but plan on doing little things for now, like 1-peice headlights, sidemarkers, HID's, etc... Please, ideas and input!!!

Looks like my old DA before the accident

Looks good. Here's my advice: KEEP IT CLEAN - don't turn it gay.

I think the H&R race springs may be too low - keep it conservative. I used Eibach Pro-Kit springs on mine and it looked wonderful - it could have been lower, but it handled great and didn't look gay.

PasswordJDM has VERY cheap 1-pieces (I paid $149 for mine) and other goodies - that's a good place to start. Clean up the interior and freshen up parts/pieces that faded or wore out and you'll end up with a lovely car.

Edit - One more comment about the drop - what you usually forget about is the size of the wheels: your stockers are 14"... Now if you give it a mild drop with a Pro-Kit, say, and upgrade the wheels to 15" and you'll fill up the little remaining wheel gap nicely... It'll look clean and you won't need some 3" ricer drop (a speed bump won't tear your bumper off)

2006CiViCsI,
Car looks great man....Just keep it plan and simple...get the race suspension...but if you have the money invest in some "real" coilovers. Tein or Apexi...its up to you and what you plan to use the car for. I'll set the benchmark for ya! haha.

the race ones dump you LOW. it will look good but will be hard to drive if you live somewhere with bad roads. what type of shocks are you gonna use

i have a 91 LS with H&R race springs. It is a 2.0" drop in the front and a 2.3" drop in the rear. I was expecting a lot of negative camber but its very little camber. Im still getting a camber kit, but it does not rub off the fenderwell or anything. My tire size is 195-55-15. Im sure if it was 205-60-15 or any other tire setup it would rub and camber in more. I like the drop, the ride is clean. I got new oem shocks and struts so the ride is really clean.

Take that advice with and remember it. I see to many perfectly good cars ruined this way.

like it was said before, the one piece headlights off passjdm and i like the look of the R lip up front. And http://www.streetstyler.com sells the whole lip kit (front back and sides) and it keeps it from looking like every other teg you see on the road without getting some ghey "black widow battle zone hell freezing over" body kit. lol

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Hey, 91DA, do you have pics of your car, so I can get an idea of what it looks like??? That would really help me out... As far as shocks go, Im getting basic tockikos all around, like I said, its just for the Honda-Tech meet, NOT what I plan on keeping for it... I might try the Buddy Club(for DC) or Tein Flex.... But that will be later this summer! Any other suggestions, that DA is nice in that picture. ****, I cant wait to get started!

Oh, as far as a lip goes, I already have my mind set on the CF JDP front lip, I love the way it looks! And I plan on keeping my side moldings black to blend better with the lip, I think! Ive seen DA's with that lip, and they look sexy!!!

you don't
same parking situation here in ny

yeah go with the H&R sports/tokico combo...it'll serve you well for a while, and then you can always resell them when you move on to a full coilover setup.

Does anyone know if I could put a DC GS-R shifter, instead of the factory one or a short shifter, because the stock one is all floppy and loose! Ive always liked the feel of the GS-R shifter... I need to know if i could do that.

That's your shifter bushing that's probably beat to hell....
just get a Prothane shifter bushing, and it will firm it up again.

Defenitely, I already won them on ebay, Im putting the money order out tomorrow, and I ordered the sidemarkers on passwordjdm for 21 bucks, used, free shipping, now thats a deal! So by next week Ill have both those and my 350Z HID's installed all together. Ill have new pics as soon as that gets done. Now I just have to sell my ITR wheels and with that money Im gonna order the H&R sport lowering springs. I just threw on my Spoon shift **** earlier this afternoon, and now my interior looks so clean and neat. I think Im going for the Spoon steering wheel later on this summer... Man this car was such a bargain, everyone of my friends and family are telling me 800 bucks was a the deal of a lifetime!

Oh yeah, I was thinking about the shifter bushing kit, but I want to know if its possible to throw on the GS-R shifter, either way Ill get the bushing kit... So does anyone know?

Yeah putting in hid's in an H4H housing is not going to be a walk in the park. Plus 350z hid's are for projectors. Don't get me wrong, anything can be done, but is it worth it and the fact that you'll run a higher risk of being pulled over.

my .02 cents.

well he should be straight if he installs the actual projector in the headlight. It will kinda keep the glare down but otherwise yeah it wil be kinda illegal.
