Default H22 motor and f22 Tranny???

I was just thinking of swapping the H22 in my 91 accord LX, and i was wondering the pros and cons of this swap. How reliable is this and how well this will work? Thanks for all your comments.

The longer gearing will give you better top end speed but will not use the full potential of the h22's power

Well if it was for a turbo setup then maybe it could be good, but for all motor its pointless cause everytime u shift you will fall out of vtec making your car slower, u want a closer geared tranny for an h22

my orignal intentions were goign with the h23 tranny, which is shorter than the f22 but longer than the h22. that is a good tranny for FI. but if u want a all motor street car try to find a h22 tranny around here on the classified, maybe a h23. they for anywhere from 200-400 bux. look around

so the basic concensus here is that its probably best to go with a complete H22 swap.

Thanks for the posts, what i was thinking was that my f22 is getting old and i was just thinking of putting the H22 in if i found one cheap enough just for transportation. Its now my only means of transportation and i just want something reliable. If you think it is reliable let me know thanks.

If you want reliable, keep it stock. Once you start getting into swaps and builds, the word reliable goes out the window.

the h22 is a direct bolt in swap for that year of accord you do lose vtec while shiftin with the f22 tranny if anything just do the h2 with its tranny and go from there. i am doin the h22 swap with axels tranny ecu chipped with a t3/t4 hybrid turbo with a front mount so ya good luck man

Just transportation?...why not go H23A or F22 DOHC non-VTEC?...or even a newer SOHC VTEC (ex. 97 Accord EX)?

You want to stay cheap, which I understand, but should look at other options than a H22. You never know what you might find.

the H22 tranny is gonna get boring after a while when you are at highway speeds and your tach is reading 4K at like 75mph.

A H22 will make a car with a F22 tranny move quite well since you are giving the car an additional 90+hp and the car weighs only 2900 lbs

the f22 tranny will make it slow my buddy did that and it was horrible until he switched to h22 tranny and its much nicer allthough the f22 tranny had a amazing topspeed and would be good on gas on the highway

I made up my mind and i am going with the H23 with the f22 tranny as of now, but this setup will be faster than the f22a1 with f22 tranny, right??? It wont be a total turd would i mean it will be decent wont it?

just a little FYI...as follows is the max speed at 7400 rpm's for an h22 mated to an f22 tranny with 17" wheels and 215/45 tires...

1st: 40.35
2nd: 73.75
3rd: 112.50
4th: 147.75
5th: 194.77

yes, those are all mathematically calculated, so enjoy...
