Auto trans not upshifting after swap.
i recently put a D16A8 into an auto 90 Civic wagon. since then, it will go into gear and drive, but it won't upshift. it has enough fluid, and it was changed during the swap, but maybe a valve is clogged inside?
i checked the adjustment of the throttle kick-down cable, but i don't think it's adjusted right. from what i read in a couple of manuals, the lever on the transmission needs to have some play in it when the throttle is wide open. if this is correct, then there isn't enough play. with the accelerator pressed to the floor, there is no play in the lever at all.
also, the shift lock solenoid isn't working right, so i have to put it in neutral before starting it. i don't know if this is related.
any help is appreciated.
thanks, in advance.

does it stall out at a light? like u leave the cluch out when stoping? then ur solonoid is shorted to +12 and keeping the converter locked. mabie u didnt de-pin it correctly?
and for not upshifting, make sure ur not in 2nd. i also have a auto and there is ever so slightly play at WOT.

i'm by far not a tranny guy. they (espsaly the hydrolic control ones) give me nightmares
how ever i do know that there are test holes on othe trany so u can see what the ATF fluid pressure is on each gear. u might not have enough presure to switch gears? again i'm not a trany guy and can help u very little.

UPDATE:
kickdown (throttle control) cable was out of adjustment. it was too tight. the car's been sitting for months now, only short trips to the store. took all of 5 min to adjust it. i had tried adjusting it before from the tranny end, turns out you adjust it from the TB end.
i could have been driving a fresh ZC swap for months. i'm kicking myself.
