black stuff coming out of my exhaust!
well my b16a has been doing this for a little while since i been starting it up.. it just started running a little while ago.. i haven't driven it around it just sits in my parking spot at my apartment complex. the car has not been driven for about 2 years so i don't know if that plays a factor. when i start the car and rev it, it shoots out this black crap from the exhaust.. my car has a cat though so i don't know if it's fuel or what. here are some pics of what it looks like from out my exhaust.

i been starting it up a lot.. this has been going on for the past month or so
i have yet to drive it on the streets though.

carbon builds up in your exhaust. then when it cools down the moisture in the air collects in the exhaust and gets carbon in the water. then when you start it up it spits it all out. its normall.

My D15B1 was spitting for a while. It was a mixture of condensation, oil, and condensed gas fumes... if your car sits for a while (or it rains a lot by you) you can get water in the exhaust and when the exhaust fumes push it out it mixed with the carbon and crap that's coming out and it spits and may even leave stains where you park
I started using 93 octane recently and it seems to have stopped, but I also plugged an exhaust leak I had. So it could be either or.

if it doesn't shift into gear, that doesn't mean your clutch is worn out, it means that
1 a clutch spring or something similar has popped out
2 throw out bearing dead
3 transmission messed up
4 clutch cable broken
clutch cables are kinda common to break (not sure about these cars, but others, such as the old vw's i tend to work on) but they take like 10-15 mins to change.
did you try that?

well yeah when i mean the clutch is done because of those problems.. if a spring is out i'm going to have to change it.. either way i want to upgrade fromt he stock one to a 6 puck. i know the cable isn't broken, because when i start the car in gear i am able to shift in and out of a gears and drive for a short while, but then after a little bit it starts to lock out and not let me into gear.

I was having the same prob on my del sol and I think somebody suggested SeaFoam ... i went to my mech. and he told me to try this first before he takes a look at injectors or anything else. SeaFoam cost about $ 11 bucks at autozone but its worth a try. I just used it myself so not sure of the out come just yet but when i started it up i think i smoked out the whole place lol need to take it for a drive before i can rly say thou
Good luck
