2nd gen si tranny questions
i have a 2nd gen lude with over 300k miles on it and about a year ago the transmission fried on me. ( i bought it from an auction for $80 hehe) overall i have put maybe 5k miles on it before the tranny broke. Ok here's my dilema.... i brought the car to a mr transmission to have them rebuild it and they were taking their sweet *** time with the rapair. So i asked for my car back with the transmission. Well guess what they missplaced my transmision and bought a junk yard one. After a quick visual inspection i saw there was a little grove where it looks like the pressure plate or clutch frame was grinding inside the the housing. Is it safe to try to send this off or should i install it in my car first test it out then send it off making sure its worthy for such a rebuild?
ill also post some pics when i can get a hold of a dig camera....
posted this in power section n the gearspeed thread but to avoid hijacking started my own post.
Well looking at the tranny i only see one label near tyhe top but dont think its correct. Starts with GM- something and now im scared that the b$%^&es gave me a damn gm tranny. It looks like it will bolt up but i cant find anywhere on the net that breaks down the correct code for a 5speed tranny for my year.
Can anyone perhaps provide me with the correct location to look for the # on the tranny and maybe what the correct number should be?

just looked where the transaxles mount and looks clean with no signs of wear on the gears. It shifts ok but no plugs where the transaxles join so what gear fluid do i use if it is the correct one?
