major problems after new engine install
okay, i put a d16z6 in my coupe, should have been a fairly simple enough swap right, well rite now i am having a major problem. Once it starts reving past 3000 rpm it becomes very boggy and wont really go any higher then 4000 rpm, does anyone know what could be causing this? I just got rid of all my cel codes... So i dunno what is left to do.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
oh yeah, its a 93 d16z6 in a 93 civic dx coupe

If you had a non-vtec before than you need to swap out the old ECU for a vtec one. If that's not it than i suggest you get the manual and learn more about the car and it's various sensors before you go to swapping **** around.

make sure the tps and map sensor and iacv is wired up correctly and not mixed together.
Make sure you wire up the vtec solenoid, ground it, and also wire up the 4 wire oxygen sensor

It's an engine swap, not brain surgery......
If you actually read what he posted you would see he is using a P28 ecu which is a VTEC ecu.....
Check the map/TPS sensors, also check any engine codes that you have.

I have seen time and time again when people plugged the tps and map backwards since they have the same plug. just check that.
does it do it as soon as you start the car or does it only do it after the car has warmed up. if so you might be gettin to much fuel pressure might sound stupid but I had this same problem and I had to switch injectors but that was the problem was to much and it bogged the car down but also check the map sensor and the tps sensors also
it does it all the time from when i first start the car up, i am gonna check the tps and map sensor if they have the same plug because i had to put this engine harness onto my new engine so i may jhave made a mistake doing so. also, i installed new fuel injectors too

couldn't be, maf doesn't come on hondas.
Sounds like your TPS sensor. but on a stretch I'd check my distributor (TDC sensor) and the Crank fluctuation sensor.

and how do i check them?
Update:
checked timing (its fine)
changed spark plugs
changed fuel pump
changed injectors
inpected hoses for vacuum leaks
got rid of all engine codes
changed fuel filter
oh boy, why do i get all these problems happneing to me

I see this alot. If you took the throttle position sensor(tps) from a different throttle body and put it on a newer throttlebody you have to adj. the tps so the ecu gets the right signal 0.5 volts closed and 5.0 volts wide open from the middle wire on the tps plug.
some dx's have manifold absolute pressure(map) sensor plugs come off of the chassis wire harness out of the firewall as a single plug.
If you are useing the p28 vtec engine wireing harness do not use the map plug off of the engine wireing harness.you have the firewall map harness if you have the extra plug comeing out from under the battery.
Vtec wires being disconnected won't affect the problems you are having.
I don't think it is your idle air control (iac) valve. Because you say it happens even during acceleration.
my II cents.

thanks alot crvtecwidebody, i tried the map sensor thing and my car does have the map sensor connector coming from under the battery, i did what u said and it didnt change a thing. :S I dont kn ow how to check the tps
but i dont think thats the problem anyways. UGHHHHHHHH I HATE THIS CAR

fuel supply code 43. If you had a air/fuel ratio gauge and a fuel pressure gauge you could check that for confirmation.
If your tps is miscalibrated it can lean/rich you out and mess with the timing advancement in a bad way.
Is 43 the only code you have thrown since the swap. a little more info would help me know what to check.

hey, i checked the spark plugs and my buddy said they look fine so iu dont think its running lean or rich. the only engine codes ive gotten is ones for my vtec not being wired up (fixed that since) and i got an o2 sensor code at first but it went away. Do u have msn man? if so add me kieran3000@hotmail.com, i could really use your help
