D15B SOHC VTEC
i just bought a d15b vtec and i was wondering what your guys oppinion of this engine and its capabilities? and how hard it is to find all the compoments to get this motor running in my hatch?
Go buy a LS motor and save up for a LS/VTEC or LS/R... Thats what im doing... im sick of D series ****... to much of a pain in the *** for such little power...

Yea you go do that.
As for the D15B its a solid motor. Turbo that bitch and you'll be happy. The swap + turbo should still be cheaper than a LS/VTEC and would be more practical in terms of cost to power ratio.
And I assume youre looking for something practical since you got the D15B anyways, cuz if you wanted ridiculous amounts of power then you woulda went with the B in the first place.

yeah turbo the batch , you'll throw some # numbers down ... as for stock wise it's a nice little motor was built a little more aggressive than it's Z6 counterpart ...
like everyone else has been saying turbo that sucker, moderately because the only downside is finding aftermarket parts.......there is none. it was believed that z6 aftermarket rods could be used but was later discovered that the piston was locked a little higher on the rod than a z6. the only company i know of is crower an they would make custom rods for you which equals $$$$$$. what alot of d15b owners are doing, including myself, is finding bare z6 blocks and building that, then swapping the head. gl to whatever route you take

Funny you say that my buddy built a Budget sohc -turbo crx, last year and he ran 11.40's for under 2k
88 crx hf, full drag
d15b vtec
custom turbo kit,TD05H
full gutt,
slicks and a good driver, on a little more than 2 Bars,
Go figure

Not at all...Who told you this?

you just need to make sure the companies you are buying from know what you are getting. You have to be ULTRA clear. BTW all d16 turbo kits bolt up, i have the edelbrock kit on my d15b, and she works like a charm, minus my boost leak somewhere.....AHHHHHHHH
