actuallly i am interested in buying one of these beautys. i want to test drive on soon. how is the power/torque and pick-up below VTEC on these cars? ive heard they are nothing to write home about.
Also, if anyone could post theyre initial reactions like this poster did, itd be kinda fun to hear what people thought of that 1st time to 9000.

First time i drove an AP1, it felt incredibly anemic under VTEC (and it was no different with the AP2, maybe slightly but i had already fallen in love with the peaky motor so it wasnt that big of a deal by the time the 04's hit the lot)...i seriously thought to myself "Man, this car is weird, its like an integra below VTEC, but after, its like a whole new car..."
Many people have compared the car to Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, and i couldnt make a better comparison...below VTEC you have a fun little nimble cruiser with some pep, above you have this raw sports car that just screams to never be dropped below 6k rpm's EVER again.
You get 2 cars in one...handbuilt in japan...with a rag top...for what i consider a steal.

They still wont let me test drive one...partly because im 19 and they dont believe that im gunna be paying for it in cash...Im just waiting for a white or black one ot show up at the local dealer and im there

**** that ****, walk in there and be aggressive and make them think you're going to buy it. I test drive cars for fun, and I've gotten into a porsche boxster s, infiniti g35 6MT, an STI, and the S2000... do i have the money for them? hell no. But you gotta be confident and act like you do.

Many times if the sales people have any sense, they'll kinda know whether or not your actually looking to buy the car or just take it for a joy ride...and i can guarantee you, whether your aggresive or not, your age will prevent you alot of times from driving higher line cars...i know if i found out that a dealership was just letting any little 19 year old teen kid drive their higher line cars, i surely wouldnt buy from them...if i saw something like that when we bought our S2000, i would have told them to keep it (though ours was right off the truck with packing material and tape and cover all over it, so it was slightly different).
I actually bought mine used and then the owner drove it to my house. I got in it and started driving, thought to my self, wow this is great. The I made a right turn, floored it, hit VTEC and though Holy ****, What was that!!!! Fell in love with it the first night and over again every night after that. I'm on my 2nd one right now and couldn't picture myself in any other car.
well just test drove one myself. Initial impression was why the hell is the thing so slow???! i mean i heard that below VTEC wasnt great but this was rediculous. Then realized the parking brake was up
I figured the guy had left it down when he brought it out but i assumed wrong and was too nervous too notice it was up. o well. But after that i was so relieved because it kicked ***! below VTEC was way better then i was being told and assumed. Plenty of space for my 5'7" 140 lb frame
The gearbox was so close too with very short shifts.
I think this is THE car for me. Nothing else i really want except maybe a WRX but not crazy about them. I am hooked
