Default sk2 stage II vs CTR cams

I already have the CTR cams installed now. I have been in the mental debate of going forced induction or a little more aggressive N/A. Seems like every time I am in this mental war, I get guys picking races with me when I'm not looking for it. I have beaten most of these guys and when I lost, it was close.

Well, long story short, close races are more fun, I love beating other cars or barely losing to other cars and have them surprized I'm NOT FI. Of course, I would be a lot faster with boost, no question, but I have been thinking about some more aggressive cams. I don't want to do internals yet, so cams and springs/retainers/camgears is what I'm leaning towards.

I would appreciate you guys opinions on cams what to get. I drive almost always street, but get into races occaisionally, no track time.

Thanks.

if you are going for skunk2 stageII cams you'll need an ecu and better intake,AEM CAI

what engine/setup you have?

to enhance the performance of the cams, you'll need a bigger throttle body and some ECU tunning.

More info...check my sig for what I have now.

Probably would like to pull more mid range to upper range. I'm trying to go with better cam and springs/retainers/cam gears. Also Hondata instead of ECU. Would this let me up the cut off to 9000K?

I have the GSR throttlebody now with Skunk2 IM and cold air coming from the fenderwell.

Dont be concerned with making power to 9k. Try to make your peak power below 8, in a somewhat streetable rpm range.

Your sig says b18c. That could mean GSR or type R. I still have no clue. Either way, compression is king with bigger cams, but not enough compression and your gonna have one sorry, unresponsive engine.

Buddy Club Spec 4's sound like a great choice for you.

Sorry, it's GSR. JDM B18c, I think compression is 10.6 to 1 on that.

I haven't thought about the Buddy Clubs. I'll search on them. Thanks for the response.

I would bring the compression up to at least 11:1 before I went with any of the more aggressive cams out there.

stick with the CTR's unless you bump your compression.

what would be bad about getting some more agressive cams before doing the bottom end?

If you don't have compression to back up an aggresive camshaft profile the motor tends to bog down and feel slugish. Say in a stock B16a.....if you were to have a completely stock compression ratio and throw maybe a M22x or a S2S2, the car would feel slower, but then gain allot of power form maybe 7k to redline. In a 1/4 drag race, the motor with a type r camshaft or a S2S1 would beat that "stock B16a w/ M22 or S2S2." However, if you back those camshafts up with compression and a good amount of airflow, then we all know what happens Hope this helps
