i hope the post title got your attention,, :-)
i have been reading here about steering shaking when braking and some people have spent money on new tires, alignment etc and still realized afterward the problem is still there ..hopefully by reading this some of you will save some money even if only 1 it is well worth it..
if the steering wheel shakes only when you apply the brakes it is an issue with brake rotors frt or rear being warped or on drum rears out of round drums,,,quick test drive car and slow down by just using e-brake if you feel the shimmy you giot a problem with rear rototrs or drums ....what i have found out is that 90% it is the fert that get warped if rotors are thick enough it is cheaper topo machine them , if you have planty of frt pads left smooth them down..
if you feel a shimmy at slow speeds no brake applied most likely you got bad tires or badly worn suspension parts , chk your tires for eveness and for bulges most likely there is a separated ply ....chl inner tie rods and outer tie rod ends, ball joint for wear.
if shimmy at higher speed 45-80 most likely wheels out of balance or badly worn suspension parts .. chk suspension if looks ok balance wheels
