buying a gsr engine...what to look for...
I came upon a good deal. A 94 gsr head, block, and a 99 b16 tranny...for 1500 bucks. They are all seperate but from the same guy. I pushed in the pistons and they seem to move fine, I rotated the shaft on the tranny and it seems to make a clicking noise for a moment when I start to roatate it...wondering if this is normal. The head seems fairly clean, is there anything I should look at to make sure Im not getting ripped off? It doesnt come with: throttle body, axles, linkage, clutch, flywheel, ecu. Im not sure about the sensors, etc I dont really know what to check out and that is why Im asking for your help. Give me some advice on what to look at before I buy these parts.
ps, Ive put a few other engines together so Im not worried about that, Im just wondering if it will cost me more in parts I have to buy to get this thing going, rather than buying a complete swap...
thanks!

What are you planning on puttin it in? I am guessing an teg from your screen name. I am guessing that everything is tore apart (i.e. the head is separated from the block)? If that is the case, then why was it taken apart? You are going to have to buy gaskets and other misc. things to get it all back together. When you say it doesn't come with the TB, does that mean intake manifold also? How many miles are on everything?
IMO I think that the price is kind of high.

Sorry about the slow reply... anyway, the engine would be going into my 95 teg. It is tore apart...he said he took it apart to make sure nothing was messed up. It does come with the intake manifold, but no tb. And lastly, he doesnt know the mileage...thats what Im saying seems a bit sketchy so maybe ill lowball him...
