Default DIY painted sideskirts gone horribly wrong....

alright everyone a while back I decided to paint match the sideskirts to my Flamenco Black Pearl 96 Lude. I bought $70 dollars worth in supplies from paintscratch.com. I bought 1 can of primer, 1 can of basecoat, and 1 can of clearcoat, hoping this would be enough. I also bought the waterproof sandpaper.

Ok so I cleanded and sanded the skirts, then applied 3 light coats of primer and let it dry for a while. After the primer was dry, I sprayed them with 3 coats of the FBP basecoat, until my rattlecan ran out. I let the basecoat dry overnight. The basecoat looked dark and evenly applied after I let it dry. This is where everything went wrong. The next day, I started applying the clearcoat. As I was applying the clearcoat it looked alright, but didn't quite look dark enough. As the clearcoat started drying, it lost its shine, and the paint was like a gray-black color! WTF!!!

Anyone have any ideas of what went wrong, I followed all the directions exactly from paintscratch.com, and the directions on the back of the cans.

maybe the primer didnt dry well enough (like the right temperature) or you didnt put enough base coat on?

I think you need to buff the paint to get the gloss. Use some light compound and see if that helps. I believe Paintscratch.com paint is a lacquer based which needs to be buffed to get the gloss after you're done.

Good luck.
