ECHC guys? Which header design is everyone using???
I know I know.... If you want torque and midrange you get a 4-2-1 header and if you want straightaway hp you get 4-1 design. I am in the process of making a good autocross and time trial car, and I am looking for help. I am trying to decide what header to put on my GSR. Our hondas can enter the corners fast and maintain their speed in the corners, so do you need so much midrange grunt? What is everyone running and what are the realtime guys using?
I am not a ECHC guy... but the Honda 4 into 1 would be a nice change from the stock unit.
Midrange... what is that?

Maybe I'm daft, but I'd think for Autocross you'd want midrange, and for time trial you'd want high end. OT/TT you should be able to maintain high RPM by shifting, but in autocrossing you lose too much in the downshift and upshift for you to do it that much.
Note: I don't do open track events.. just autocross. So I am not speaking from experience on the track side of things.
Especially if this is still a daily driven car, I'd advise not sacrifcing the mid.

I will be running a full custom build header from SMSP =~) 4-1 with 2.5" collector, resonator, then dump.. Should be able to muster some awesome power out of this 2.2L of mine... There are NO decent aftermarket header at all for the H22a, well short of hi-tech...
For open Track, 4-1 is the way to go, get all the top end power you can.. There are only a handfull of corners that I drop of hi cam..

>>The realtime guys use a titanium? custom done one, similar to the one SCC used in their headder test a few years ago.<<
Dunno about this year, but for 2000, the Realtime Acuras had Mugen headers. I spent some time with the mechanics at the ALMS race at TX Motor Speedway, and they were glad to talk about anything in the engine bay. Didn't much want me looking at the suspension though. Great people btw!

I'm running a JDM 4-1 header and all works well. I don't think the difference between the 4-1 and the 4-2-1 will effect your runs on a autox course because as all autocrossers know it's driver -> supension/tires -> then power that wins autocross races.
If you are serious about autocrossing then I would change your signature.

Where's the best place to find a high flow 2.5'" cat?
