here tha story. i have jus got a 93 sol si from my aunti. only thing is it wus recently jacked for parts (ecu, stereo system, seats).
i got a p08 ecu wich i wus told equivolent to usdm p28. i only have till tha end of june to get it smogged but check engine light still haunts me. check engine code is 21 wich i guess is my vtec desnt work. can anyone help?
can it be the po8?



i now have replaced tha speakers, one delsol seat one eagle talon seat, no seat belt buckles

 

did it come with the dog too? the vtec solenoid is the one wire plug on the passenger's side of the head, behind the dizzy. trace that wire to A4 pinout on the ecu. Check the stickies at the top of this forum for a more through explination.

Your P08 should work because it is for vtec. If your delsol is a DOHC you want to be running a P30. Check your wiring and see what happens.

Continuity checks. Go pick up a manual and a voltometer.

 

Was it setting the code before the ECU was replaced?

 

it didnt hav an ecu when i got it. i got tha code after it wus replaced.

i wus thinkin for tha mean time. cut the power to the check engine light then hook it up to another warning ling like oil. do u guys think i would beable to pass smog? cus i only hav till tha end of the month. i still plan on fixing it.

I am very sure that for a D16z6 you will need a P28.

We have a winner! Maybe not. READ THE WHOLE POST. Then read a book. A P08 is a d15 vtec ECU and is for vtec. I can only say to the OP to try and get a P28 and put it in. It could be a bad ECU. Give it a try.

nice sol. i dont think the ecu is the problem. i have a d15b with a p28 and it runs with no cels. i don't see why u couldnt use the p08 cel free.

Ah leave the guy alone. I thin he should check all his wiring and then get another ECU.

 

Dumb question but hows the oil look? is it low or dirty Ive heard of that causeing the vtec to not work too.

 

It got good potential. Keep working on it and it will look fresh.

^^^^Yeah, make sure your vtec is working.

Change your oil, check your vtec wiring and check to see that the vtec solinoid is working. After that it should be fixed. Get vtec going and everything will be good again.

hahaha i miss old muscle cars, even thoe the honda engine is a pretty simple layout. this whole vtec thing is givin me a head ache.

give the solenoid power and listen for a click. the solenoid just opens a path for oil to flow.

Yeah, check to see if the solenoid is opening. That could be the problem. If it is then get that fixed and change your oil for good measures. Also check to see that all wiring is still good and intact.

 

thnx guys, check engine light is finally gone. luckly had a friend with a p28 layin around in his garage. i guess it wus tha ecu. i dont why, a fren of mine had tha same problem and replaced tha stock ecu with a po8 like mine.

everything works well now but i miss the torque the chipped p08 had. a bit laggy now but atleast ill pass smog.

is it pretty easy to chip p28? i hav great soldering skills i just miss the low end torque so much

Yeah you can chip the P28, but why not get uberdata or something like it to do fine tuning and stuff. Hondata is pretty good too. I would get a tuning shop to tune it the way you want it.
