Default 200hp LSVTEC????

ok ive seen alot of post up here about lsvtec making 190hp-200 or more hp but i want to know what tranny are u guys using?

how much is gsr tranny? how much should i pay for one?
could i keep my ls tranny if im goin NA LSVTEC setup?

heres another questions.
could i sell or make a deal with a performance shop to do my ls vtec conversion and trade my stock ls head and tranny for performance parts? like for a new clutch or camshaft ITR or CTR???
do u think anyone would do that? or could i sell it ?

pretty much im asking because one of my guy friends took it to a shop and he told them he as going come back in pick up his ls head and tranny and they said they dont know what happen to it. But over all he did get is LSVTEC converson done but he was **** off because he was planning to sell his ls head and y80 tranny.

what do u guys think?
oh yeah he paid $1700 . for the b16 vtec head and installation on to his b18b block.
is that to much? how much should it cost to do a lsvtec conversion? gsr head or b16 head?

ok thats all..

you can find a gsr tranny for about $400-$600. you can keep the LS tranny but the gears are so long i'd go with a gsr, type r, b16 which ever you could afford or get your hands on.

theres a lot involved in doing a lsvtec swap. you should try to search and do some homework so you actually know what is neede to be done. then that'll give you an idea of parts needed and pricewise as well. good luck with your project.

$1700 seems high for a vtec conversion and new tranny, especially since they sold the parts. There is no way the just lost a head and tranny.

yes i know theres alot of info or stuff about lsvtec . but alot of it dont include tranny setup ? most just just about what block, head , camshafts..etc..

and i just want to know what others used because i know its easy to find b16 tranny if i want to go NA and gsr tranny will cost more and itr tranny will have LSD. etc..

i also heard people said they used LS tranny and make 200hp or more and alot said ls tranny have long gear so im kinda confuse on that.

most NA recommend GSR or B16 tranny but if i could get 190-200hp with my LS tranny i rather just keep it instead..

well thanks for reading and repling..

ok you dont seem to understand the concept on trannies.
if you want to make 200whp you can do that on any tranny. but to put that 200whp to use the shorter the gearing the faster you will go. so of course first preferance is an itr tranny because it has the shortest gears and has an LSD so you get the best grip as well but thats gonna run you over $900, so next best thing is a b16 tranny, itr gears without the LSD, that about $500+ and best recommended for the gearing and price.

average lsvtec swap runs around $1300-1400 including the head.

Yeah for real drive slower or do you have VTEC set at like 4000 RPM? I have a 4.9 final and never hit VTEC on the highway granted it is at 5800 RPM but that RPM in 5th gear is doing at least I'd say 100 MPH. 4500RPM is about 80MPH which is my usual cruising speed.

$1700 is way too much for a b16 head and a gsr transmission. I'd say something more like $900-1200 plus your old ls head and ls tranmission too, now that's a fair deal! The shop probably sold that shiet for profit, lol!
