some polishing ?'s... searched
ok i stripped down my valve cover with aircraft remover. found quite a bit of diff grits at my house, 180/320/600/800/1000/1500 thinking about go out and buying 2000 grit (anyone have any pics of 2000grit polished?)
my question is what kind of polish is better, i saw a member on here using mothers mag&aluminum polish and other ppl saying to get a rubbing compound?

Once you do not have "scratches" in it anymore you need to hit it up with an electric buffing wheel and some rouge if you want it a "mirror finish".
Alum polish is for after its done to clean it and remove oxidation with. A rubbing compound is simliar to rouge and would also probably work but a machine will polish it so much faster. </TD></TR></TABLE>
thanks man
but what is rouge? where can i buy it/how much? i know it will take long, but can i do the rouge and polish part by hand? i did some testing on a old valve cover with just sanding it and aluminum polish and it looks ok so far, but not the "mirror finish" i want

EDIT: Wet sand once you get to the finest grit.</TD></TR></TABLE>
oh i was told to wetsand every grit. is it where you dip the sand paper in the cup of water and soap and then sand for a bit, then dip again and sand again?
