Default Best Intake manifold for midrange power on Lsvtec???

Im looking to research a really good intake mani that will suports some good mid range power on an lsvtec. I keep reading about people using the type r intake mani, and the skunk2 and so forth but its sufforing some mid range, and moving the power band into higher rpms. These guys are reving past 9000 and i want to bring my power band in earlier.

Anyone know of any good manis out there? I was thinking bout the skunk2 pro 1, but after looking at it the runners seem kinda shorts opposed to the length i thought they were, this leads me to belive its designed for high end power. I also looked at the blox which seems to have a decent sized plenum with some very long runners, but i have heard that thast too is designed for high end power?

If i cant find anything to do what i want i guess i am going to be forced to stick with an gsr, or b16 mani. Hopefully not saraficing too much power.

I am going to be using a gsr head with ls bottom and p30 pistons. Would you guys prefer to run a stock gsr manifold, or modify a b16 manifold to fit the gsr head??? Which setup do yout hink would flow better and creat good mid- slight high end power????

i think your asking the wrong questions. all manifolds support good power from 4k up and some just support better top end (ie JG) but its all dependant on your cams and headers if you want a stronger mid range not completely on the intake manifold. i think you could have gotten your answer from a few searches and making your own descision instead of making a post. you dont race in your mid range, you race in top end so why want a midrange power? by the specs on your setup doesnt seem like anything serious, you should have built a 2l if your needed midrange.

^^^ the reason i dont have a built 2.0L is because i dont have that kind of money.

my setup will be something like this ...

stock ls crank/rods/block 81.25
p30's
gsr head milled .012 (should net around 12.2:1 CR)
header will probaly be a rmf(great torque/great power)

i know that the cams have the most to do with where the motor makes its power, this is obvious. But it has been proven that biger is not always better as far as the airs intake path goes. An intake track that flows two much will move the powerband into the higher rpm's and suffer slightly in the mids do to the fact that at lower rpm's velocity is lost. Not everyon agrees on this, but this is what i have been hearing about lately.

By the way, maybe my idea of midrange is diffrent then others ... i want to make the most power i can say between 6000 and 8300

just trying to learn like everyone else out there .....

what engine speeds would your LSVTEC be seeing for drag racing, meaning where would you want the most area under the curve for that setup?

I think most manifolds can't help fill the cylinder as well as a b16 manifold up to 8k rpms, so that would probably yield you the most tq and area under the curve if your revving to 8300 rpms or so.

I have yet to see a b16 manifold get beat even on a b20vtec with nonported head tuned to make the most area under the curve under 8000 rpms. I'm sure a ported b16 or ITR manifold might fair against the stock b16 mani though.
