Default JDM cluster problems

I just put in my jdm cluster but nothing except the speedo works. The tach just slowly crept up to about 5k and just sits there. The gas stays at empty and the temp is stuck all the way up. The odometer doesn't work either.

The case it came in was pretty banged up, so after I tried it the first time, I switched the guages themselves over to the stock vx cluster. Neither one of them work. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

If you bought it off ebay, tell the seller it was damaged in shipping. My JDM cluster was chipped and the tach needle came fell off. I crazy glued the plastic bit and reattached the tach needle (after a bit of fiddling to get it calibrated right). Otherwise everything worked perfectly.

Don't really know what else to suggest. Try and get your money back and get a replacement.

you do know that if you a put a jdm cluster into your car it needs to be re-pinned right? i think you can get the re-pinn list for that car from this website http://www.merritr.com

No the real eg6 cluster is supposed to plug right in. That wiring diagram is for putting an Integra cluster into a Civic.

I bought it from an individual, not a company, so the chances of me getting any money back are pretty slim.

Can the back half of the vx gauges be transfered over to the JDM gauge faces? I want to try it but I'm worried that if it doesn't work I'll have no working gauges.

Yes, the JDM cluster is a direct swap. I had zero problems.

I would recommend grabbing a cluster from a local wrecker before you try hacking your good gauge cluster, just to be sure.

I'm sure someone has done this...

There's got to be a way to make these work. I don't just want to throw them out.

Was it sent from Japan? Because when I send stuff small stuff out like clusters I use EMS and it is insured up to around $400 without paying extra. You should try that first, then get a replacement. Sounds like the cluster was broken to begin with.

I bought it from a guy instate (CO). He claims he never installed it, so he didn't know it didn't work. He bought it from a local shop. Plus I waited like three months to install it. There's really no chance of me getting a refund.

Now, I know the cluster was broken to begin with. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to swap the faces with a working US cluster.

Don't really think the speedo will be accurate since our guages go up to 180kph and USDM goes to 120mph which is more than 180km. There are a bunch of kids here in Japan that slip on the light up EL guages (made for USDM guage 120mph) on their JDM guage (180kph) and claim how "fast" their car is when their speedo reading is waaay off . USDM and JDM guages are calibrated differently I think not just the face is different.

Switching faces it will be off, but switching the whole cluster it will be accurate still.

The speedometer is the one thing that works. It's the tach, odometer, gas and temp gauges that don't.
