Starter or starter solenoid
early in the morning, when i try to start my car, it doesnt crank. it doesnt make any of that normal churning nosie.
is my starter dying or is it the starter solenoid ?
after the car fires up the first time, it operate as normal. it fires on the first try etc.
this only early in the morning or during the first.
i searched...but it seems like most people are replacing their starter even though its making the sound...and i dont get the sound at all...so make its something else?

i say selenoid, being that's what activated the starter... if the starter were bad it would would hear the selenoid trying to activate the starter and you would either hear the starter spin no engaged, the starter gear slamming out but not rotating, you would hear a few things of that nature but since you hear nothing at all the selenoid is bad (common thing in chevy's since they're attached to the starter they get really hot and are noted for failure...)
thanks for the reply!

i sure hope that's not what they're really asking for a selenoid, all it is is a means to complete and break a ciruit on command... and GM and Ford selenoids OEM replacement are like $30... what you could do to test the ol selenoid failure theroy is take a screw driver and touch the 2 power terminals with the screw driver and see if the starter activates (i would recommend having your car in the on position and not in gear, that was you will know if the car will start and know if the starter is engagine properly) if you've never done anything like you may be thinking right now but can't i get shocked from this? no, luckily you can't, i'm not sure if you're familiar or not so i thought i would share, cars operate off DC current, you can't get shocked, only place on an engine you can get shocked from is off the coil and anything between the coil to the spark plugs (so basically coil and wires)
