Ok, basically... there is the

k24a1 - CR-V motor

k24a2 - TSX motor

k24a3 - Accord motor

k24a4 Element motor

The accord, element and cr-v have the k24a motor that DOES NOT HAVE VTEC... TRUE VTEC.. Read this for complete info on this
http://www.theksource.com/news...kdown/

The only k24a that can carry the 3 lobe vtec cams is the tsx.

Now... if you want to use a type s head with a "Non vtec" k24a like the accord, element, cr-v.... and you want to stay with everyhting stock... you can only use the CR-V block, or the TSX block (although tsx head almost like the type s head)

The stock pistons and valves will touch if you try to match a stock type s head with a stock element or accord block. The pistons are a little bit different, that is why they touch.

I hope that is clear enough for you.

I forgot to mention on more thing..

When it comes to bare blocks.. they are pretty much the same, all of them... Only major difference is that the tsx block has oil squirters, the other k24a don;t...

Another minor differecnce is that all the k24a blocks have balance shafts in the oil pump... Only the CR-V block will accept the rsx type s oil pump with no modification.. the other 3, need minor work to accept the pump.
