Default IMPORTANT. question on my 91DA

alright. i just drove from diego to san fran and my car is shaking VIOLENTLY only when i accelerate.. when i take my foot off the gas it stops and i coast fine.. could it be my cv joints, tranny mount? its not just wheel balancing because the car only does it during acceleration and i can feel it on the stickshift like the entire tranny is wobbling. it feels like the left front wheel .. maybe both are wobbling retardedly because the entire car moves from side to side at the front. not the back. if someone knows of this or can help me ou that would be awsome. .thaxd

Damn my car does the same thing! I searched everywhere, but I haven't found a reason why it does that. I heard that it might be my driver side axle because it pops sometimes when I turn or take off, but I don't think thats what it is.

When did it start doing that?

could be a couple things... could be your wheel falling off... so first thing i would do you be to loosen the lug nuts, jack the car up and retighten the lug nuts properly to make sure the wheel is sitting flat against the hub... then the next thing i would say it could be is your wheel balance. you may have thrown a weight off causing the tire/wheel to be un balanced and cause one hell of a vibration/shake if bad enough... and i would also check to make sure none of the wheels are bent...

as for the whole CV shaft thing... i've never in mt life heard of one making your car shake by being bad...

All the problems you stated would happen reguardless of if he was on the gas or not. His problem happens when hes on the gas, but goes away when hes off it.

It's definately one of your inner CV joints. Happens to me all the time (Cars too low ). When it happens to me, my whole car vibrates, the steering wheel vibrates just like how it does if you stop and have warped rotors, but only on accelleration, if I take my foot off the gas completely, it coasts smooth as hell. I'm glad I got lifetime warranty axles from Autozone I gotta change mine about every 4-5 months (speaking of which, mine are shaking again, i keep putting off changing them because im too lazy )

MY car did the exact same thing on the way home from the race track about a year ago. I would excellerate and it would go away but as soon as i let of the gas or was just cruising it would shake like all hell. Needless to say 5 min later my wheel fell off at 60 mph. Def. check all your lug nuts because when your wheel comes off at speed it is not fun at all

Your car wasn't doing the exact same thing. His vibrates ON the throttle. Yours vibrated OFF the throttle.

Ya it was when i was coming home from our local drag strip when i fierst got my DA. Before i got on the freeway i could hear a clicking and i thought it was my axle but as soon as i got on the freeway it started shaking really violently. My friend made a joke like haha what if ur wheel fell off and not 5 seconds later my driver side front wheel fell off . it was scary as hell let me tell ya, the only thing i lost was that wheel and my ball joint was jacked...kinda like this thread, lol back on topic

If I remember right I payed $75 an axle, but it will be a little more expensive up front because of the core charge. Either way, it's worth it just for the lifetime warranty. It's not too difficult to get them out, but getting them back in can be a little tricky. How mechanically inclined are you? I managed to do it w/ a Hanes, very little experience, and my dad (who somewhat knows domestic cars), so it's not TOO tough. Helms would have better diagrams though.
