HELP! I got a 89 Accord and theres a clicking noise when I accelerate and white smoke!1
How screwed am I?
Its whiteish smoke that come out of the exhaust when I accelerate. I leaks oil and I do have to add a quart or two every now and again.
I realise this might be its last days but is there anyway this might not be too serious? Even if I can just get rid of the smoke, I dont drive to work very far. If I could just make he smoke go away for a little longer. I payed 800 and am willing to put a few hundred just to get a few more smoke-less miles.
Am I being to optimistic?
Anyone cheap in the North County San Diego area to take it to?

i'd personally buy a good running junkyard motor and swap it in, or bay and rebuild a junkyard motor... either way you have little downtime, and a much better and more reliable car...
the problem with the motors in these cars is that they are cheaper to buy used than to fix minor things on... that's why i suggest getting one in decent running condition and rebuilding that or getting one in good condition and replacing your current motor...
and a decent rebuild shoudn't run you more than a few hundered bucks if the motor is in good shape because it's not gonna need much in it replaced

white smoke means you most likely blew a head gasket or got a crack in a cooling passage.
ticking could be a valve or fuel injectors. I would rebuild the current engine or do as the others suggest and get a motor and rebuild it and drop it in.
