Default Weird Idle

1990 crx si with a b16a. Idle goes down to 500 or little less, almost dies and kicks back up to around 700-800. Then does it again every 5 or so seconds. Whats the problem here. Wont do this when it starts up, only after the car has been driven for a couple minutes.

So what exactly is the knock sensor for? Is this why my idle is weird?

The Knock sensor senses any vibration in the block that's not suppose to be there. It shouldn't affect your idle. Mine does that after it warms up, but i have a chipped ECU, and that usually happens with those. Is yours chipped? If not, then the only other thing i can think of is your alternator might be wiggin', i've had that problem too.
