i have a stock d16y7 with around 80k miles on it, when i ever i take my foot off the clutch it makes a load kind of knocking noise.... any idea what the problem is?

when you take your foot off the clutch when going into gear? or just when the car is off or in nuetral?

 

could be your throw-out bearing just get an ACT Stage 2 Clutch

my throw out bearing i think is gone

its not a knocking noise for me more of a grinding noise
like a dude skateboarding on cement

definately 110% it is your throw out bearring just replace the whole clutch assembly you will be glad you did in the long run. Like I said before I suggest the ACT Stage 2 Never failed for me ever. Very nice Clutch
