Default What's that noise comin from my engine?

What's up everyone...I need some troubleshooting help for this problem I have.

Everytime I turn right I hear a rubbing sound coming from my engine. It happens only when I gas the car and turn to the right. I'm sure that it's not the tires rubbing because it never rubbed before.

Things I changed before I started to hear the noise:

1. Clutch
2. Resurface rotors & change brake pads

Any ideas?

is it a scraping sound like metal on metal? if so, possibly may be related to power steering problems.

No it's not a high pitch metal rubbing noise. Sounds like a winding, deeper in pitch noise.

where is the noise coming from? the front right tire? How fast do you have to be going? Is it when the wheel is cranked all the way or partially? Take the wheel off and look for signs of rubbing thats what I would do first.

You just had the brakes done and then the noise started??? My guess would be the backing plate.

If it was your backing plate, it would be constant. The backing plate turns with the entire suspension assembly.

My guess is wheel bearing. I guess that based off the conditions you hear it.

Hi. My ITR makes similar noises- I have recently had a new clutch; installing the new clutch (removing driveshafts etc) disturbed the driveshaft bearing causing it to 'squeek' due to lack of lubrication. After a week or two I got more noises like wearing/grinding noise at full lock, but now does it when i turn slightly!! So this could be similar problem !?

Ime having a new bearing fitted today so hopefully this will fix the problem

Who installed the clutch?

I'm guessing one of the axles wasn't installed properly.

The noise sounds like its coming from the right side. It only makes a noise when I'm going very slow like 5mph and about at 45 degree turn.

Yeah I think it could be my wheel bearing. I'm starting to hear a lot of road noise. But why would it only make a noise when I turn?

That is not true at all I've had many customers that heard the noise only when turning or going over a bump and lo and behold it was the backing plate.

Now were getting somewhere. What kind of tires do you have? How long have you had them? What is the condition? Have you had an alignment done recently?
