ive heard them mentioned several times before on here and on other sites and i dont really know what they are . anybody care to explain ?

It's pretty well documented over on the ENDYN BBS if you care to take a gander. I suck at the keyboard explanations.

In a nutshell you run some allthread into drilled and tapped locations on the block to help support the cylinder walls.
