Suspension clanking
Hey I have a 92 civic, with eibach springs and tokico struts. It's lowered a bit over 2 inches. I have no fender gap basically. I've been getting this "clinking" noise from my front passenger side suspension setup. It's like metal to metal. I believe it is the dust cover/shield that protects the strut housing from, you guessed it, dust. It just seems the only logical thing. I recall the shield being lose over the strut when installing. So to me it makes sense for the shield to be moving when I hit a bump or something. This is generally the only time the noise is audible.
My question for ya is, is this a problem. It's not posed a problem per se other the annoyance. It's a bit unsettling though, as whenever I hit a bump I hear metal to metal clanking. Is the dust cover needed, necessary. It seems since its there it would be why else would it be there.
Is it a simple fix such as taking the suspensino apart, and re-installing it? It's been done twice now. Same noise. I just need some answers. I'm heading to work now so hopefully I will get some answers from you suspension gurus on this.
Thanks in advance.
