Overseas shipping question...
Sorry if this is off topic but I know a lot of you guys deal with JDM parts etc.
I was curious how long it generally takes to get a part(lets say a pair of wheels) from Japan to the states. This would just be a friend in Japan buying them for me, boxing them up and shipping them. I'm more curious than anything, I keep getting conflicting answers elsewhere.
Thanks a lot.

From Japan I don't think you could get something overnight (except maybe a Spoon engine
) Depending on where you live and the size of the package your looking at 3 days ($$$) and up.
If your friend used a big shipping company try to get the tracking number and call them to have some info. If it's Fed Ex or UPS... they have a web site you can go to to track your package.

FedEx Intl. Priority or UPS Worldwide Express are the quickest (about 2-3 days), but major $$$. I just sent a 1 pound package to Tokyo via FedEx Intl. Priority; it cost almost $70! But it had to be there in 2 days
Also, chances are you will have to pay Customs duty with FedEx or UPS.
Express Mail Service (EMS) thru the postal service is cheaper than FedEx/UPS, takes about 7-10 days. No tracking detail however.
Other options include air parcel and surface freight. Surface freight will take about 4 week, but is pretty cheap.
