I know you need a helmet, but does it have to be sae 2000 or 2005? Also do we have to ware pants? Certain tires that arn't allowed? Any special specs we have to follow? This is my first track event and I'm just trying to get everything taken care of ahead of time so there is no last minute running around.

 

I assume the min helmet req is snell sa95.. maybe even 90? probably 95 though. I need to buy a new helmet soon

Most groups these days are requiring that helmets be either SA95 or SA2000.

You won't be able to buy one that's SA2005 for another 3-4 years.

SA95 sounds about right. Every track event I've been to required pants.

You must wear pants during your tech inspection. But when the tech inspector comes towards you wearing a rubber glove, run away!

I'm not going to the expo, but for track events, you want to have a helmet rated as SA95 or higher. SA is the code for automotive use.

On the track, you'll want to wear natural fibers - no synthetics. Long sleeves, long pants. That's pretty standard.

So the M rated helmets most of us use for autocrossing will not pass tech? Automotive helmets are expensive and hard to find....

 

We'll have to get a final word from CGI on the use of M type helmets.

However, their web site only says they have to be Snell 90 or 95 approved, so motorcycle helmets should still pass.

 

Wow.. in that case I don't have to buy a new helmet yet.. someone find out for sure please
