Default 99 Accord odometer and climate control area lights are out

Hope i am explaining it correctly, but the odometer (where it shows the miles traveled, etc) and the heater area (where it shows what temp you are set to and AC, etc) lights dont work anymore. not a huge deal, but it is a pain when driving at night to not be able to see what temp i have the controls set at when i am too cold or hot. My dealer sez that it will cost mucho $$$ in labor to replace those, the lamps themselves are cheap. Does anyone think it would be something that the average person could replace if willing to open things up, etc or would it be way too much work/aggravation?

if only the bulb gone bad, it's a five dollar part from honda.

it would take about 30 minute or less, all you need is a phillip head and flathead. there's nothing tricky for it, i would see honda charge at least an hour for these little thing.(around 75 buck plus parts)

CLUSTER:

1)remove the Negative battery cable from the battery.(for safety)

2)locate and remove the two screws(UP) on the cluster shoud(the black plastic piece)

3)hold and pull the lower part of the cluster shoud, there's two clips that holding it down. pull it with even force, since they are located on the bottem, pull it on top will get you a broken piece for sure.

4)there's four screws that holding the cluster down, remove all four(upper L/R, lower L/R) don't lose them, you'll need every pieces later on.

5)pull the cluster up and tilt it facing down, now you can see three green connectors on top, remove them by squeezing the tap and pull.

6)once you finish, the cluster is free, pull it out, it helps if you tilt you steering wheel down all the way. there should be a mini-bulb located exactly in the back of the odo. Twist to remove the plastic seat, the blub is inside the seat which you can pull out with your fingers.

7)run to honda and get those bulb. they should runs about 1.5-3 depends on your dealer.

8)putting everything back in the same fashion.

CLimate control/dash

1)remove the two lower screw located on the bottem of the dash trim

2)pry out the clock with a flat object, you could pull it out with a firm grip if you pull it the right way. most people would just put a cloth for cushion and stick in a flathead driver. remove the harness/connector for EMERGENCY light and clock

3) remove the screw behind the clock, it's very easy to drop that little bastard, so be careful

4)now you can pull the whole dash out, there's 6(more or less, i can't remember the exact number) clips that holding it down, apply force evenly and pull it out. there's nothing you can break if you do it right.

5) after you get it lose, disconnect the harness for climate control, replace whatever bulb you need to replace.

SIDENOTE: it's pretty easy to lose those little metal clips, honda sells them for a quarter, if you lose a couple, get it at honda or your dash would move a tad and start vibrating
