where to find hatch latch thingys???
I have no idea where this goes but I intend on using it for race purposes and plus, I like you guys.
Im sure alot of you have seen the different types of external latches for use on anything I guess but seen alot on hatchbacks they are a spring loaded hook and latch type thing. I have no idea what they are called or where to get them but I would love to have this info. TIA, always needs help Jeff.

Sparco makes them. We used them on our Civic to keep the rear hatch glass closed. I don't have any in stock right now though.
Go to http://www.pegasusautoracing.com and type in "terry" in the keyword search.
You need to order both part numbers (3001 & 3002)

sparco makes some that work real well with eg hatch rear glass, since they can be mounted on the tabs where the struts mount. I got mine from mid-atlantic trading for $25 or something. Try http://www.ltbmotorsports.com

Any chance anyone has a picture of these mounted? For some reason I'm not seeing how the spring part attaches to the body. Nice and cheap though.

I use these for my front bumper. See the small loop on the end of the spring? I just ran a bolt & washer through there and bolted it to the bumper.
Then rivet or screw the hook receiver to the fender.

I try
The 'finger-hold' portion sticks out a little bit and last weekend we were talking about weather or not slight contact might knock it loose. But if another car gets in that far, he's already into your tire/wheel, so you'd likely have other issues to worry about. Besides, they don't hold the bumper "on", they just hold the sides "up".

this is what i was going to do, but the difficulty lies in the fact that the EG bumber is not flat and perfect right there so something would have to be fabed up to get a good tight fit

Yeah I was always wondering if you could use them on the front corners of the bumper, but I figured it problaby would work with how it mounts there and the surface especially. I've just used zip ties, but that gets old cutting and wasting them.

the USTCC GOTO racing WRX uses the dutz that you mentioned.
i used zip ties for a while too, but the plastic eventually riped threw so zip ties don't work no more
