Guys, Please a brother out!!!
I am getting ready to purchase a 600cc bike. My budget is around $3,000, take or give $500. I really like the GSXR 600 and the R6. What year bike and bike condition can I expect to see with my budget. Please advice. I am in the Boston area.

I am looking to get a used model, pre 1998 or so. How much then should I be looking to spend for the aforementioned models?
Good choice in bikes but your budget is gonna make your search a little harder. Who knows you might find a deal for the price your looking at. Ive seen some decent bikes go for 3.5, keep your eyes out and keep looking g.luck on your search

Yeah u may have to pay up to 4k. I know some one who has a 94 gixxer 1100 for 3.5 k. Has less than 9k miles is clean with tank bra and V & H SS2r full system. Only needs rear shock or adjusting/oil?

I like the way you asked your question. You told us how much you have to spend and narrowed down the search to two bikes. But your title needs work.
Too bad that your budget only leaves room for a fixer upper or a salvaged bike in those models. R6's are relatively newer bikes so the prices are gonna be a bit higher than the Gixxers.

You might be able to find decent bikes for that price during winter when the weather is shitty. But now it's getting warm out there, all the bikes are flying off the showrooms and they are in high demands. = Higher prices
Good luck with your search

you got that right about prices... most new ones I've seen have jumped $100 or more just because of the season. Best time to buy them cheaper is in the fall or winter.

i have yet to see newer r6s or gsxr's for that price. i have seen some older gsxrs (90-95) for around 3k.
check cycletrader.com they usually have some good deals floating around, and you can narrow your search pretty good.

haha, i thought the same thing.
have you considered a late 90s yzf600 or f4? those are more realistic in your price range...

Good news!!! I was able to find a 2002 Honda CBR600-F4, 7,400 miles, clean tittle, Devil exhaust, pirrelli tires in awsome shape. I am going to go ahead and do the 8,000 mile tune this week. As for the price, the seller wanted $4,700, but got him down to $4,400.
